BARKER RESPONDS TO RACISM ALLEGATIONS AT “MOO U” BY RAPPING TO GETO BOYS, BARENAKED LADIES SONGS

FITSNews - February 2, 2007 - Clemson University President James Barker took matters - and the mic - into his own hands to combat racism early Friday morning at Clemson’s famous Esso Club.

Days after Clemson came under fire for alleged racial insensitivity at an off-campus “gangsta-themed” party, Barker kicked off Black History Month by flexing on the mic to “Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangsta” by Geto Boys. And then “One Week” by Barenaked Ladies, just to make sure all races were represented in his dropping of mad, dope rhymes.

“Damn it feels good to be a gangsta,” Barker started to flow immediately upon receipt of the mic. “Real gangsta-ass nigg*s don’t flex nuts, cuz real gangsta-ass nigg*s know they got ‘em. And everything’s cool in the mind of a gangsta, cuz gangsta-ass nigg*s think deep - up three-sixty-five a year 24/7 cuz real gangsta ass nigg*s don’t sleep.”

Of course, when it was noted that Barker should have included a little more ethnic diversification in his rap repertoire, he hopped back up on stage, told the band to “hit it” and started rapping to something written by a white person (obviously):

“Chickity china the chinese chicken
You have a drumstick and your brain stops tickin
Watchin x-files with no lights on, were dans la maison
I hope the smoking man’s in this one
Like harrison ford I’m getting frantic
Like sting I’m tantric
Like snickers, guaranteed to satisfy
Like kurasawa I make mad films
Okay I don’t make films
But if I did they’d have a samurai
Gonna get a set of better clubs
Gonna find the kind with tiny nubs just so my
Irons arent always flying off the back-swing
Gotta get in tune with sailor moon
Cause that cartoon has got the boom anime babes
That make me think the wrong thing”

And then right at the “I have a tendenency to wear my mind on my sleeve, I have a history of losing my shirt” part of the song, Barker actually ripped his shirt off to reveal that, like Tupac, he has the words “Thug Life” tattooed on his back.

True story.

Okay, we may have made up the tattoo part. But everything else is completely true.

If Barker were a member of the Geto Boys, he’d definitely be Bushwick Bill.
