Another Republican Hypocrisy
GINGRICH WAS HAVING EXTRAMARITAL AFFAIR WHILE LEADING IMPEACHMENT CHARGE AGAINST CLINTON
FITSNews - March 9, 2007 - We said last week we didn’t think Newt Gingrich was going to run for president. Well, based on this news, that prediction is looking pretty good right about now.
Gingrich - who compromised the Republican Revolution of 1994 with profligate spending and then sacrificed it completely for the sanctimonious moralizing of the Clinton impeachment drama - admitted yesterday that he compromised his marriage vows as well, having an extramarital affair with a congressional aide at the same time he was leading the charge against the former President over the Monica Lewinsky affair.
“The honest answer is yes,” Gingrich told Focus on the Family’s James Dobson in a televised interview that will air today. “There are times that I have fallen short of my own standards. There’s certainly times when I’ve fallen short of God’s standards.”
Hmmm … why is it that whenever Republicans get busted having extramarital affairs they talk about “falling short of God’s standards,” but whenever they catch Democrats in the act they wax indignantly (and incessantly) about the need to “restore honor and dignity” in government?
Please. If there’s one thing that frosts our political apples it’s hypocrisy like that, of course Gingrich doesn’t see himself as a hypocrite. From the interview:
The president of the United States got in trouble for committing a felony in front of a sitting federal judge. I drew a line in my mind that said, ‘Even though I run the risk of being deeply embarrassed, and even though at a purely personal level I am not rendering judgment on another human being, as a leader of the government trying to uphold the rule of law, I have no choice except to move forward and say that you cannot accept … perjury in your highest officials.
Uh, you “drew a line in your mind?” Yeah, good luck selling that one, Newt.
In addition to being yet another example of Republicans saying one thing and doing another, Gingrich’s admission is a double-whammy politically.
Not only does he ruffle the feathers of the religious right over the indiscretion itself, he ruffles the feathers of everybody whose apples are frosted by politicians who don’t shoot straight with them. Which is everybody.

Well-said Willie. And speaking of hypocrisy, the next thing you know we’ll have a certain Vice President who dodged the opportunity to serve his country in one war through numerous deferments (”it wasn’t one of my priorities”) criticizing the Democrats as the party of “Cut and Run” in a war that he helped instigate and is so anxious to send our children to fight and die in.

I do not understand how it is that Newt Gingrich can’t figure out how to remain loyal to his wife while this guy–who definitely has more opportunities–seems to do it with ease.

I guess it’s better that Newt was sleeping with two different women, as opposed to to Mitt Romney being married to two (or more) women…
HUCKABEE FOR PRESIDENT

awwwwwww, the tiny little Huckabee Army of God is busy taking jabs at the Mormoms in an effort to catapult their campaign. Newt and God must both be proud.

I guess if it comes down to Newt, Guiliani, McCain, and Romney, Mitt will be the only one who has had only one wife. Brigham Young must be smiling down at the irony.
