FITSNews - June 4, 2007 - Hotel heiress Paris Hilton, who is currently spending day 1 of 23 in a “special needs” California jail cell for her various vehicular misadventures, paused before being incarcerated to remind all of us that she is a shining light for the young people of America. From the Times Online story:
“I hope that I’m an example to other young people,” she told a confused crowd outside the (MTV) awards show. “I did have a choice to go to a pay jail. But I declined because I feel like the media portrays me in a way that I’m not and that’s why I wanted to go to county, to show that I can do it and I’m going to be treated like everyone else. I’m going to do the time, I’m going to do it the right way.”
The crowd was confused? Really? Of course leave it to Paris to make three weeks in a cush “celebrities only” wing of a Los Angeles minimum security detention center sound like twenty years in the hole at Shawshank. Seriously, those cruel bastards won’t even let her use her Blackberry in there.
