FITSNews - November 26, 2007 - First of all, we know it’s cruel and unusual to follow a scorching hot picture of Angelina Jolie with this image of Mississippi Senator Trent Lott. So we’re sorry. At least we didn’t pull his, um, “hair” back to reveal the third eye that’s located in the center of his forehead.
Anyway, Lott is announcing today that he will resign from his seat in the U.S. Senate before the year is up, marking the end of a 34-year career in politics that was marred of late by scandals and out-of-control spending.
Along with President George W. Bush, Lott was one of the big-spending GOP politicians in Washington D.C. who fundamentally failed to grasp the fact that Republicans are supposed to be the party of less government and lower taxes. In fact, Lott’s total lack of leadership on fiscal issues helped cost the Republican party its majority status in last year’s elections, paving the way for his fall from power.
Hopefully the people of Mississippi will elect a legitimate fiscal conservative to fill Lott’s seat, but God help ‘em, people in Mississippi are almost as dumb as people in South Carolina. So don’t hold your breath …

I can’t believe you missed the big story here that DeMint is one of the names being mentioned to replace Lott as Minority Whip.

Trent left office to go become a lobbyist . Maybe he and Tom Delay can work together continuing their rape of the taxpayer.
Hopefully all the pseudo-Republicans will quit and we can start over - can Lindsey quit too?

I believe “truthseeker” is on to it. Many have questioned why Lott didn’t wait until after Jan 1. If he had, he would have saved millions in taxpayer money (his successor could have been appointed … now a special election must be held). The other magic thing about Jan 1 is if he waited to resign the new lobbying rules would have kicked in (making him wait…what, something like 2 years?….to work as a lobbyist)
