On The Myrtle Beach Tea Party

Our founding editor’s visit to Myrtle Beach, S.C. last week (the lovely Yaupon Dunes compound, to be precise) prompted a barrage of incoming messages from members of the local Tea Party, which based on everything we’ve gathered is comprised of a few dozen old people with way too much time…

Our founding editor’s visit to Myrtle Beach, S.C. last week (the lovely Yaupon Dunes compound, to be precise) prompted a barrage of incoming messages from members of the local Tea Party, which based on everything we’ve gathered is comprised of a few dozen old people with way too much time on their hands.

Seriously … these Metamucil-downing geriatrics put teens (and tweens) to shame when it comes to the sheer vapidity and bitchiness of their voluminous social media posts, not to mention the speed with which they create and disband various Facebook groups followed by half a dozen or so of their best “frenemies.”

We wrote on the drama surrounding these overly cantankerous senior citizens last May … at which point we realized we don’t give much of a rat’s ass what they’re doing. This sustained level of disinterest has prompted some in the Myrtle Beach Tea Party to accuse our website of kowtowing to powerful interests and refusing to expose the rampant corruption that allegedly exists within the organization.

Sheesh …

We hate to break it to these bingo-loving “Key Partiers,” but to pique our interest an organization needs to be worth exposing (a.k.a. something more than just a boil on the ass of a dying movement).

“No one takes them seriously,” one of our Horry County sources said of the local Tea Party. “Or will anytime soon.”

Another source referred to the group as “excessively passionate and under-educated about the issues they think they want to be involved in.”

We concur. Wholeheartedly.

More to the point, the Myrtle Beach Tea Party is also totally ineffective, as evidenced by the fact an uber-liberal former Democrat – State Sen. Luke Rankin (RINO-Horry) – ran unopposed in a “Republican” primary election last year.

Where was this so-called “movement” during that election? Exactly …

Of course we shouldn’t be too hard on them … maybe it was “nap time” at the nursing home.

Here’s the bottom line: The vast majority of elected officials in Horry County (at all levels) are bought and paid for tools of the region’s taxpayer-funded tourism mafia. And instead of doing anything about it, Myrtle Beach Tea Party members are having a spitball fight amongst themselves on Facebook.

Accordingly, the allegations being leveled against this group – most notably that its leaders are raising money without properly filing its charitable documentation with the S.C. Secretary of State – strike us as substantially less than newsworthy.

What is newsworthy? How the petty grudges of a bunch of tired old white people have turned “Tea Party” into the latest in a long line of meaningless political labels in South Carolina.

Not a member of the MBTP, and probably would not join even if they would have me. Not entirely white, either, but that’s another story entirely. My beard is mostly white, coz I am older than dirt and twice as gritty.

I too have been under siege. SIEGE, I tell you, by MBTP members and HGOP members who were pissed about this shit. SOMETHING stinks, somewhere, about all this — and when Sic or anybody else gets to the bottom of it, I can guarantee you, I will be doing my own stinking someplace else.

In the last week or so… Rick Perry did next to parting the Red Sea, aborting a part of the Abortionists, and a Fla. Jury bravely chose the law over bitter race-haters and an ignorant pop culture…And FITS chooses to attack a bunch of old people because they vote Republican…

Same old FITS. I could have predicted it…but I am very thankful you offer proof of what I say about the Liberal-Tarians and liberals. If not for FITS, I’d be like Obama, paranoid and shadow-boxing straw-men all day… FITS proves that yall exist, and are as lost, lockstep and stupid as I show you to be…

2007 Made the mistake to show up to one of their meetings. First of all they didn’t let me speak to their 11 member group, next I asked them if anyone in the Tea Party had to follow the bylaws of the Republican Party while running a “nonpartisan organization”. Then I went in for the kill, I asked if I could see where their money came from- I was asked never to come back.

Crotchety old people, bitter at life with nothing better to do but to annoy everyone else, just plain suck. Ever have an angry old neighbor who does nothing but drive around their neighborhood all day looking for HOA rule violations on everyone and reporting them? Or hell, the kind of people who live in neighborhoods whose HOA enacts strict “visitation hours” for grandkids coming over?

Now, imagine those kinds of people getting involved with political activism. Yeah, no thanks.

Maybe the Myrtle Beach crowd are drowning in their own petty squabbles but you’ve got to hand it to those old folks for sticking their necks out. They love this country. They know their time has past but they have the life experience and the common sense to know that the system is upside down because the politicians of both parties in whom they’ve placed their trust in the past, have made promises they couldn’t keep, overspent the people’s money and underperformed for them while over-performing for special interest groups. The complicit mainstream leftist utopian media almost uniformly sing the praises and find no fault with the pandering progressives (because who doesn’t want to solve all the worlds problems with someone else’s money with no accountability?) while almost uniformly denouncing and discrediting the opposition. We therefore have no balance, no reasoning, no understanding which leads to pendulum swings to the fringes who try to overcome the perceived wrongs of this world by overcompensation.

Those who shop in Myrtle Beach pay an additional 1 percent sales tax that is “for promotion of tourism.”

A part of that revenue offsets the bribe to the property-owning voters in MB by lowering their property taxes. The Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce gets about $30 million a year to pretty much do with as they please — no reporting, no audits.

New FOIA ruling by state Supremes says they have to deliver now, and not the bullshit they delivered to the hot-ass warehouse in the middle of August for Wrenn to wade through, with obnoxious music blaring — three different gawd-awful tunes, over and over at the same time, from several loud speakers. Oh, yeah, and a chamber flak videoing him from a few feet away in one direction, and a forklift operating just a few feet away in the other.

Posting again, so it’s in the right place: This was a story Sic never reported, though the Sun News report on it was sent to him by many people. His reason for that was that someone else’s FOIA request was no concern of his. Never mind the fact that 90% of his “Coastal Kickback” info came from Wren’s reportage, and he himself would likely have been treated even worse. This shit is important, because it impacts all media in the state, from mainstream to alternative. It really is a big fucking deal.

Why did Luke Rankin run unopposed? Maybe because he is a nice guy, a good lawyer, from a good family, and actually an Horry County native. The Tea Party types in Horry County tend to be stuffy Yankee transplants who think it’s their God-given duty to reform the South. That would be one thing, but when they let you know it at every turn, no thanks. Head back up I-95.
