‘Tired of media filters?” Palin asked in a tweet announcing her new venture. “Well, so am I. So, let’s go rogue together and launch our own member-supported channel! This will be OUR channel, for you and for me, and we’ll all get to call it like it is.”
The Sarah Palin Channel isn’t free though … members have to pay $99.95 a year to hear the former Fox News host and her supporters opine on the issues of the day.
Really? A hundred bucks? We don’t know about you, but you couldn’t pay us $100 to listen to Palin bloviate.
She’s an occasionally effective critic of the administration of Barack Obama, sure, but so are dozens of other talking heads. Palin had a chance (several chances, actually) to emerge as a substantive figure on the national political scene … and didn’t.

I believe I’ve seen your documentary, like I said, lots of opinion but no real facts. All news services have their biases. When you talk about the opinion side of Fox, I’d agree that the slant is significant but I’d submit that even Hannity is less “out there” than “the boy named” Maddow or Mr. “Tingle in his pants” Matthews – though the “tingle” seems to be fading for Matthews.

Although not a military service member, Mr. Weisskopf lost his right hand when he tossed out a grenade that had been thrown into his Humvee on 10 December 2003 while covering the invasion of Iraq.
Mr. Weisskopf is one of those liberal “Pulitzer Prize” nominees who writes for that commie pinko liberal rag named “Time” magazine and other publications.
I remember when it happened and his interview on Chris Matthews’ show (I had returned from my first rotation a few months prior). I distinctly remember thinking about his herioc action and how it contrasted to all those “chickenhawks” like Hannity, O’Reily, Limpballs, et al who cheered us on while sitting on their asses from the safety of their broadcasting studios or some gated compound in Florida.
Honestly, to this day what little I listen/watch those dicks, I remember Mr. Weisskopf’s sacrifice and If I ever get the chance to confront any of the above mentioned (or local dicks on talk radio who slam supposedly “liberal mainstream journalists”) I will bring up the example of Mr. Weisskopf to them.

The main difference I see between FOX and the other cable/satellite “news/commentary/opinion” channels is that FOX goes out of its way to appear partiotic and support the military while all the main “talking heads” never served a day in uniform. There is/was that whining Col. Ollie North but he is so played (but he did know how to pick a secretary, I’ll give him that but that’s about all)
CNN & MSNBC don’t play that card so at least I don’t see them being phoney when it comes to “rah-rah-sis-boom ba” right-wing jingoisms
I had forgotten about Weisskopf. O’Reilly covered wars in El Salvador and the Falklands. Steve Vincent from National Review was killed in Iraq along with 30 other journalists of one kind or another but I can’t find any current reporters with military service, I’m sure they exist but I can’t prove it.
Absolutely a number of journalists were killed but as far as I know nobody else did what Mr. Weisskopf did and as far as I can remember noone from the Fox side acknowledged what he did. I know that fuck Limpballs did not.
During my first rote in Gulf II back in 2002, I was flying out of Ali-Al-Salem AB—-We had a big-assed chow hall (now they call them “DFAC’s” or so they try) and were lucky to have 2 big TV monitors- one on either side of the chow hall (one was always on ESPN and the other rotated between CNN & Fox which I thought was pretty damn fair). Back then every reporter that could get over (and there were a shit-load) transitioned out of Ali-Al- Salem.
Some weasely looking talk radio types from Kansas City or somewhere like that were sitting next to me and when FOX came on you would have thought they were at the Sermon at the Mount – they were absolutely fixated.
Never seen nothing like it before or since.
That type of psyche speaks volumes as far as I am concerned and says a lot about how some are so easily swayed. They really can’t think for themselves.

Hannity is what is known as commentary or opinion, not news and I concur that Hannity is a bit beyond the pale. “The boy” Maddow was alleged to be news and she is equally beyond the pale.
I don’t see the distinction. They are both doing a news/opinion show. I haven’t watched Maddow in years, but the last that I saw of her, she at least backed up her commentary with facts, and would have opposing views on her show without running roughshod over them.
I think in the case of maddow, it was more that every story she reports was designed to make conservatives look bad and she never had any real dissent. Hannity will at least bring in dissenting view points.
The reason its called Faux News, is its not news. Everything they do is right wing political commentary. The only difference between Faux News, John Stewart and Stephen Colbert, is that Stewart and Colbert are actually entertaining, and provide valuable information.

Specifically they ran a piece just prior to the 2008 election (no other network did) of a girl who claimed an Obama supporter had carved a swastika in her forehead. They leapt on the story like Sanford on a $2 whore, but it was all fake and they got the facts completely wrong in their zeal to smear Obama.
That’s more to the heart of the network, they are a mouthpiece for the right wing and the GOP. They either don’t report or bury stuff that is detrimental to the right and they hype stuff that hurts Dems.
It’s a simple but brilliant business model really. It’s “news” catered to a specific audience.
