From Georgetown, S.C. comes an election flyer urging supporters of U.S. President Barack Obama to vote against the local slate of Republican candidates.

What’s newsworthy about this political communication?

The methodical baseness with which it appeals to the lowest common denominator of our nation’s exploding dependency economy.

“Tea Party/ Republicans voted to cut your Food Stamp checks!” the flyer declares. “Tea Party/ Republicans voted to cut Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security.”

“Tea Party/ Repulbicans voted to Shutdown President Obama!” it adds. “DON’T LET the Tea Party/ Republicans SHUTDOWN GEORGETOWN!”

In other words … vote Democrat so you can continue to sit on your ass and do nothing while someone else subsidizes your existence.

The flyer – paid for by the local Democratic Party – includes a sample ballot showing how to vote straight ticket as well as a phone number to call “for a ride to Vote.”

Take a look …

This get out the vote (a.k.a. “GOTV”) effort was successful, too, as Democratic mayor Jack Scoville was reelected by a narrow 40-vote margin out of more than 2,000 ballots cast.

“I thank my campaign workers who worked tirelessly and the people of Georgetown who turned out to vote for me,” Scoville told the local paper.

Yeah man … go with that.

Was the flyer written by the same firm that does Nancy Mace’s press releases?

“Shutdown” should be two words.

“Gotta vote” should be “Gotsta vote”.

SHEESH!

There’s that racist headline to the article again – certainly no surprise. FITS – if you are such a crusader of not being PC, why not stop pussyfooting around and just go ahead and put NIGGER in all caps in all these articles that you pen – you know you want to – I think it would be “freeing” for you. Quit messing around with all the code words and whatnot and just let it out – call that spade a spade.

There are a lot of creepy ass crackers on welfare too. I feed my family of four on roughly $100 a week, with money I work for. A family of four on welfare draws nearly $700 a month, it needs to be cut.

SCBlues,
TBG thinks FITS’s headline was just riffing on the flyer, which, you have to admit, was targeted at black folks.

Reply
SCBLues November 7, 2013 at 8:09 pm

I do not know about riffing but I do know that Fits stirs the race pot at every opportunity. Please explain to me how the flyer “was” targeted at black folks – I see nothing on the flyer saying “Attention Black Folks” – please explain.

The democratic party and the mainstream media has done an excellent job in making the tea party movement out to the boogie man, and we all know who is extra afraid of the boogie man.

TontoBubbaGoldstein November 8, 2013 at 11:44 am

Apologies for the slow response, SCBlues.

The flyer was targeted at the poorer people in Georgetown county. While poor people are both white and black, the flyer states that the “Tea Party/Republicans voted to Shutdown President Obama” (Whatever that means…)
TBG suspects that in the more redneck poorer white sections of Georgetown county that statement would be greeted with “Hell Yeahs” , while it would more likely inspire black folks to head for the polls.
Simply put…the vast majority of Obama supporters in South Carolina are blacks and wealthy white liberals. This flyer was not aimed at wealthy white liberals, conservatives, the middle class or poor whites…
Do you disagree?

“There’s that racist headline to the article again”
Right…which highlighted the racism in this flyer. There are no bigger bunch of racists on this planet than liberal socialist Democrats. You’d really hate for black people to actually FIND a way off welfare, food stamps and government subsidies, wouldn’t you? Because then you and your racist ilk would no longer be relevant. Better to keep them poor and dependent, right Blues? Racist.

76% of SNAP households included a child, an elderly person, or a
disabled person. These vulnerable households receive 83% of all SNAP
benefits.

Plenty of other interesting facts, too.

Reply
Paladin November 7, 2013 at 9:03 am

Then we should be able to make a 17% cut in benefits and they would still be ok.

Reply
MaceSucks November 7, 2013 at 9:06 am

The cuts are across the board, affecting everyone on SNAP, not just the 17%.

Reply
Smirks November 7, 2013 at 9:12 am

Ehh, actually, I agree with the Heritage Foundation for once. This isn’t a cut.

Congress approved a higher level of food stamp benefits for all recipients as part of the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act, the stimulus bill enacted in 2009.

“It’s a boost that was only meant to be temporary,” said Rachel
Sheffield of the conservative Heritage Foundation. “They’re not cutting the program.”

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/11/01/stateline-food-stamps/3345823/

This was a temporary increase that is being allowed to expire, just as the payroll tax cut was temporary (and allowing that to expire was not “raising taxes” either). Temporary means temporary. We can argue if it was better to let it expire now or later, sure, but as with the payroll tax, I definitely wouldn’t argue to make it permanent.

Bill November 7, 2013 at 9:53 am

And just like the Bush Tax cuts were supposed to be temporary.

That’s not who I see with shopping carts (buggies for you Southerners) full of sodas, steaks, and cookies when I’m in line and see the famous EBT card get whipped out by some young mother of six kids. EBT should not be able to be used in fast food or convenience stores. If it’s a prepared food, you need to pay cash.

I’ve personally witnessed items not being eligible for payment with EBT, so the woman says no problem and whips out a wad of cash and pays for them with that. Enough cash that she shouldn’t have been eligible for food stamps in the first place.

Bring back government cheese, beans, and rice. You want more, get a job.

This is what modern Democracy is all about. When you have the income tax and majority rule, this is the end result, every time.

Maybe if we had some form of Republicanism at a local level it could be tempered, but even that is doubtful.

At least when government was financed with tariffs the internal wealth distribution incentives were minimized and money not being taken directly from some citizens and handed to others.

Oh well, I see it all for what it is and act accordingly. If you own a business or are creative enough to know/learn how to adjust your income on the books you should do the same to protect your money from the thieves and the mob.

That is a valid point, I guess people are too STUPID to take care of themselves like wildlife. Ever wonder why the more they push this stuff out into society the more the people take and the cycle continues until “other people’s money” runs out and it all goes to hell? There will NEVER be enough “other people’s money” to satisfy the gimme crowd. The more we provide the more they want, it never stops. The war on poverty is never going to end. Even if you confiscate every penny earned above $200,000 it will never be enough. Must we really destroy our society before people see this?

What’s one of the first things they tell you on an airplane? Put your oxygen mask on BEFORE you put the child’s mask on.

What’s one of the first things they teach you in a class to be a lifeguard? Do NOT let a drowning person get a hold of you.

Why do you figure that is, because if you don’t do it that way there might just be two dead people?

The Republicans won’t be able to suppress the grifter vote. The system will degrade like all government systems over time and then it will simply go “poof”, much of the wealth either consumed or having fled. Who knows how long that will take, but I think 10 years may be a stretch.

I, me, mine. You righties hoot and howl with scorn and derision at the needy, the sick, the hungry, and the elderly but you are always the first in line to take help if the need arises in your own personal life.

Help is justified when you receive it but EVERYBODY else who is receiving assistance must be cheating the system.

The worshipful Mistress of Libertarians, Ayn Rand was dependent on Medicare and Social Security before she died. She spent decades ridiculing those who received benefits from these two programs. I wonder if she had a conscience?

Will you go to no lengths of demagoguery to justify theft?

I’m surprised you didn’t throw “It’s for the children” into your list of the needy.

No one with a clear & rational moral system respects you for being generous with other people’s money.

So in effect, forgive those that have decided what they work for is “I, me, mine.” as you put it.

But we all know you won’t do that will you?

Instead, you’ll vote to send Uncle Sam in to take it and give it to yourself and those you deem need it to satisfy your sanctimonious but slovenly ass behavior and call it “charity”, with other people’s money.

Gregory Geddings November 7, 2013 at 5:34 pm

You completely avoided the question I posed about Ayn Rand by changing the topic. You speak of demagoguery? Libertarianism is nothing more than a bunch of sociopaths desperately seeking to establish a moral justification for their lack of concern for others.
Everything is me me me…No room for us or we….

If I had my way we would return to the tax rates of the Eisenhower years. Less money in the hands of the evil elements among the wealthy is less money to buy the media, control the debate, own the candidates and eventually destroy what’s left of the democratic process.

SCBlues November 7, 2013 at 8:12 pm

That tactic is as old and worn out as the content of this article.

One day Howie will tire of Mr. Folks and throw him to the dogs. Don’t be surprised if you see Will behind the counter of an all-night convenience store hollering about how great it is to be able to buy a 64 ounce Giant Gloop soda without gubamint interference.
